The Face Behind the Blog

WELCOME!

Hello!  My name is Wendi and welcome to my blog!  I hope you enjoy my story of redemption from my past and the hurt I experienced through divorce.  It is my pleasure to honor God in everything I write and do in my life going forward.  We all have hurt in our lives, but it's all about how we react to our situation that defines where we go next.  We have two choices, to stir over our situation and ask why me, or we can lift our eyes and hands to the Lord with praise and worship;  knowing that all good things come from our Father above.

A little bit about me
I grew up in a small town in Kansas with a graduating class of 68 students.  I am so thankful to have the childhood I did, because the opportunities to be involved were endless.  I graduated from Kansas State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Advertising and moved farther East to the Kansas City area where I found my first job after college and was also given the opportunity to be an NFL Cheerleader for the Kansas City Chiefs.  I loved Kansas City, but a new life adventure took me to the Pacific Northwest where I was also blessed with another position as an NFL Cheerleader for the Seattle Seahawks.  While in Washington, I began a new career as a licensed Radiation Therapist.  God opened the doors for my career quickly and effortlessly, I knew He had me right where he wanted me.  I absolutely love what I do!  I myself had a small scare with cancer after having been diagnosed with melanoma in situ.  Not quite melanoma, but way too close.  Life has come full circle; I made a move back to the Midwest and have been fortunate to give back to the Hunt family organization, The Kansas City Chiefs, as alumni staff for the cheerleaders.  I knew I was going to learn from these beautiful women, but I learned far more from this particular group of than I ever imagined.  I experienced a very special moment when I was asked to lead Chapel for the team on Sunday before a game.  I felt so honored to be sharing my story with these women who impact the lives they touch through their philanthropic work, little did I know my story would hit hard to so many of them.  God didn't call me when I was ready, He called me when He was ready.  I will admit, I felt unworthy.

I had the honor of being in the fashion show for the Chiefs Style Lounge as alumni in 2015.  Such a fun experience

My heart is always excited for football season!

 I have a small little treasure in my life that I don't know what I would do without...a Beagle named Smoke.  He brings so much joy to my life and I'm sure you will see a picture or two of him throughout my blogging journey.

I also have a slight obsession with cupcakes and coffee...Hello, Cupcake in Tacoma, WA has some of the best cupcakes I've ever had!  The picture below must have been an after Church treat!  Please forgive me for not one cupcake, but three!

Best Cupcakes...EVER

I didn't start snowboarding until I moved to Washington, but I'm definitely getting better and loving it!  I can't wait for our girls yearly trip to the mountains.  Not sure where our next trip will take us.  It's always an adventure.

A special hello to Pastors Kevin and Sheila Gerald and all of my family at Champions Centre in Tacoma, WA. When I was a little girl, I was baptized in my local church, but on August 11, 2013, I was baptized again at Champions Centre proclaiming Jesus as the Lord and leader of my life.  I will never forget singing "I have decided to follow Jesus" just before I set foot into the water.  Praise the Lord for being SAVED!

God has been asking me to step out of my comfort zone and share my story with as many as I can!  So I challenge you to also step out of your comfort zone and do something you've NEVER done!  Set aside time each day to talk to God, even if it is 5 minutes.  The Lord wants to have time with you.  He cherishes every minute he gets to spend in solace with you.  Keep your mind on the journey he has right in front of you.  God's way is PERFECT.

{HOLD ON. GOD KNOWS WHAT HE'S DOING!}
